Just look at how many people listen when Stephen Hawking speaks.

I think English people just get more respect because we sound more intelligent.

That depends on exactly which accent. Some of the English sound like complete wankers. Perhaps God didn't want to take the chance of his son being known as "Wanker Boy".

Ummmm God did something like what you said. The Bible was mass translated into English first in the King James Version. God likes to take the most unlikely person and do great things. The Jeswish Community at that time was under Roman Rule and didn't have much sway in the world. Out of that Community grew Christianity. It ended up taking over all of the Western World.

But Hawking doesn't sound "English". He sounds American (and he hates that).

Your complaint has already been lodged with the authorities. Note this lyric from the title song of the rock opera, "Jesus Christ Superstar":

"If you'd come today you could have reached a whole nation.
Israel in 4 B.C. had no mass communication."

Why not chinese?

The majority of the humans in the world seem excluded wich ever.
Why didn't he speak in a language that everybody would understand ? And why didn't everybody hear it? In every time?

Surely an omnipotent god could accomplish that?

It must have been strategic. Israel is sited at the crossroads of the continents. We were just fun-loving, beer-drinking barbarian tribes in Germania at that time (or had beer been invented then). We probably couldn't write but were a lively lot.

Who sez ? incidently, please define who/what the "English"
were around 2000 years ago. They wouldn't even listen to
Merrill Lynch (and everyone listens) let alone Stephen Hawking.
