What ideas do you have to improve our public schools, from pre-K through high school? I'd like to hear from parents, teachers, and students alike. What things do you like about the public schools and what should we change?

10 months of school
more funding
higher pay for teacher so more people will become teachers
give raises for best teachers to make it more competitive
require uniforms in all schools to cut back on distractions
have a mandatory study period for the whole school

Get back to developing individual strengths and talents and stop trying to churn out pre-qualified clones to work in the hi-tech factories of tomorrow. Selling out to the business community by doing its training and testing at public expense is a recipe for disaster.

I would like to see a longer school day. Children in the United States have rather short days compared with other countries. Maybe another half-hour to an hour a day. Children simply don't get enough time to learn things.

More federal funding, and property tax should not determine how much money a school has.
