This is a common manifestation of OCD, but it would be irresponsible of us to give you advice on how to handle it. That is for your doctor to do. I do suggest however, reading two books: The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Washing, by Dr. Judith Rappaport, and Brain Lock, by Dr. Jeffrey M. Schwartz. The former is an informational book on OCD, which gives accounts of real-life experiences, and lists several manifestations and spectrums of the disorder. The latter is a self-help book. Both are good to use in conjunction with talk and drug therapy. Good luck.

OCD whether its Severe or minor is common amongst nearly all people.
To deal with your OCD against germs you gradually need to take action against it so that psychologically you overcome it. For instance....look at a dustbin with germs all over it...then go near it, then touch it and not wash ur hands etc...its a gradual process and it takes time.
Heres a link...hope it helps http://www.ocduk.org/1/ocd.htm

I have been told by my doctor that i have o.c.d,i keep checking everything like if we are going to bed or going out i will check the oven(even if its not been used),check the taps are tight, plugs are off, hair straightners are very cooled down b4 i leave, check lights are not on.I have to know where my keys, wallet and handbag are b4 i go bed this is every day and night but i have been doing this for years but has got worse since having my baby who is nearly 1 now bless him.
It had all started when i got burgled 10yrs ago at my parents(they only took my things) but has worsened. My partner does not see me like this as when he is around he puts me at ease.
They say it stems from somewhere so i am seeking advice where i can get cognitive behavioural therapy,(sorry if thats spelt wrong)as this will help apparently you to think differently and get back on track -but you got to want to help yourself first!,i wish you all the best and thanku 4 sharing this as it helps ppl understand that it is getting to be a more known problem now with many of us.

I haven't got OCD only must admit if I think I've touched something that I think is dirty I wash my hands, I'm not obsessed with it only if you have been diagnosed it must be bad so really talk to your doctor.

It is common, my daughter has ocd. The doctor can prescribe meds to help you. She used to bathe her baby every 20 min or so, because she felt that people touching him was getting him dirty and therefore sick. She is way better on the meds.

you gained't get HIV by technique of touching stuff. you gained't get HIV if there is not any blood on the needle. see you later as they placed alcohol on your epidermis to disinfect germ before they poke you with needle, then you definately're ok.
