NHS is not a "club"...it is a very prestigious organization that has been around for over 70 years. It is an organization that recognizes academic excellence. Your school must have a charter to have a legit society. The four core values are leadership, scholarship, character, and service. If you can't explain why you would be an asset to your school's society, then you must not want to be a member bad enough. Just winging it and lying goes against the character aspect of the society.

But...you need to write the essay.

I'm a college grad with a degree in communications. I can write a 200-300 word essay on what makes ME a great leader, but that's not you. It would be lying. I'm not you. I've had a different life.

You made it into NHS for a reason. Now prove it. Don't cheat on this, of all things!

NHS - National Honor Society? Okay, as far as I know this is "by invitation" only - i.e., you're an honor student you're automatically made a member. I wasn't aware you could apply.

Anyway, if your school allows students to apply - good for you!

Re: essay
I'm very confident you can do it on your own. Just write down what you feel. The way you worded your question indicates that you can express yourself clearly and that you have a good command of the language - you just need to work on your spelling (which I think is more a case of carelessness than anything else).

Practice, practice, practice ------- that's a very short essay that they're asking for - it's only about 4 to 5 times longer than the question you wrote. YOU CAN DO IT!

Good Luck!

I'm good at writing essays, but I absolutely will not write yours for you! Practice will make you a better writer. My suggestions:
1) Start by brainstorming. Write anything that comes into your mind, no matter how silly it is. Fill up about 2-3 pages with your thoughts about the topic. Don't worry about sentence structure, style, spelling, etc., just fill up the pages.
2) Set what you've written aside for at least an hour, or ideally, overnight.
3) Reread what you have and pick out any good ideas you can use. Take these ideas and shape them into a 200-300 word rough draft. Don't worry about spelling and grammar, just focus on expressing your ideas in a logical way.
4)Set the rough draft aside for at least an hour, ideally overnight.
5) Reread the rough draft and polish up your word choices, grammar and spelling.

If you're really stuck for ideas, try "Eulalie's foolproof A+ essay recipe":
Stay awake until 2 am writing down everything you know (or every idea you have) on the topic.
Set your alarm for 4 am and go to bed.
At 4 am, you should wake up with a clearer understanding of whatever you're trying to write about (usually a thesis statement.)
Hey, it works for me!

Well some how I got into the NJHS at a private school. Oh, the twist, I CANNOT for the life of me. I can write a decent essay on a topic that I am not interested in. Like if it was on Bono, U2, Oprah, or anything to do with them, I have a hay day.
Sorry.

Whose - not whos

start by writing down at least 3 good reasons about why you are good. Then expound on each of them. You should be able to get 2-300 words with no problem. Then make sure you spell check and proof read it at least 3 times.

Good luck.

If you want to really be a NHS member then you should write it yourself because if you really are determined do it yourself.

Work in the equation y=mx+b.

That equation ALWAYS impresses people.

As far as the rest of the essay - just copy/paste something from a website.
