It's completely appropriate to bring something spicy to a potluck, because likely some other people there will also like it. But others will not want to try it. Perhaps you could make a little sign that goes next to it that says "spicy" or something like that. If you'd like to make something that everyone will enjoy, laying off the spice is a good idea.

If I were you, I would do one of two things here:
1. Make it normally and write up a cute little card that says something like, "Warning: This casserole is HOT!" to place in front of it. That way if anyone's worried, they could take a little bit and taste it first before piling their plate up with it.
2. Make it more mild than usual, but (like someone else said) put a bottle of hot-sauce or a container of whichever spice(s) you used next to it for those who would prefer the spiciness.

I love spicy foods too.
For a potluck, though, I would tone it down a bit or at least warn any potential takers that your casserole is very spicy.
Have fun!

Make it the way you would normally make it and I am sure people will like it if not there is lots of other stuff to eat at a potluck.

NO.
I know its boring, but aim toward the mild-to-interesting. That way everyone can enjoy your food.
You could always bring along a little bottle of hot sauce and place it beside the dish.
Have fun.

I would pitch it at no more than 1/2 a chilli per serving, otherwise most of it will get wasted.
