Damien was only the "devil's son" in the movie "The Omen". It has no more association with the devil than that movie. I don't particularly like it, however, as it's one of those names of kids that get picked on.
The name Damien actually means "to subdue" and the only famous Damien I can think of is Damien Woetzel who is a world class ballet dancer.

Damien is an awesome name. It would seem though that society is pretty much against anyone named Damien being a good person, thanks to "The Omen" series.
However, there once was a priest named Father Damien that was ordained by Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu. He helped the people in the Leprosy colony, tending to the sick and helping the colony build homes, etc.

The name Damien means tamer, divine power and fate. See below. I know in society Damien may conjur up the image of a satanic little boy. I knew a guy named Damien once, he was a drug dealer. Not a fun guy.

I've always liked the name. I don't want kids, but if I did, I would definitely name a son Damien.

It's just a name!! My fiance's name is Damien and he has yet to receive any religious scrutiny over it. Also, the spelling "Damian" means the devils son. "Damien" actually means "King of the Lepers". Or, if you're a movie buff, it's associated with the Omen.

It will always be associated with the film though. And, the few Damiens I have met never tend to be people I get on with - maybe that is just a coincidence.

Damien is a great name. Unless you are really particular about the meaning of a name, don't worry about it.

I like the name Damien. I would not name my son that though. It has too many negative connotations and I don't think that would be fair to a child in this world of religious bigotry.
