I consider my honest answer/opinion my best answer.
I won't provide research for people who can use a computer and do it for themselves.

I give my honest opinion. If it's regarding a factual subject, I will do some research and give the "wikipedia" answer. But if it is a question of opinion, then I just give my own personal opinion. After all, you can never really guess what the asker is looking for, and sometimes the "best answer" can backfire, if it is uninteresting. I've seen people who gave short anecdotes regarding the question who didn't really answer the question get best answers over those who did research and gave just factual information. I think most of us who ask questions on here are pretty capable of using the Internet to look up factual information for ourselves, so most of the time we're really looking for what others think.

I too hate the wiki answers or someone pasting half a page off some web site.
Many times, my honest opinion IS NOT what the questioner wants to hear, because I'm not content to just robotically dole out answers - I want to know what thought process got to this conclusion, or when the problem started, etc. And then, many people would rather not deal with the real problem, but rather hide it and deal with symptoms, which I don't do.
My problem is when I give my honest opinion, I usually get deleted. If the question is so off the wall, I don't mind starting my answer with YOU BIG DUMMY, or telling someone they need to get a life or whatever.
Bottom line, I give the best answer if I detect it's a real and serious question or problem.

I give my best off-the-cuff response. Sometimes I will go to Wikipedia or some other website to confirm facts, and I may include the site as a reference, but the answer is all mine.
I don't answer anything I'd have to look up--what's the point in that? And I don't care if anybody likes/dislikes my answers either; you pays your money and you takes your chances.

I agree, I always say what I think, whether it's what the asker wants or not - I like getting best answer, but don't expect my percentage to increase because I would rather say what I think is right - wikipedia answers bug me, as if we couldn't find that out just as easily on our own, and it really puts me off when someone obviously gives the answer the asker wants just to get best answer, no matter how wrong it is.
Seems like selling your soul to me.

I will always give my honest opinion. I don't care if I get chosen as best answer. It matters that I spoke my mind and told them what I thought. I do try to consider what others might be feeling and try to sugar coat it but I am 100% honest.

An opinion is a person's ideas and thoughts towards something. It is an assessment, judgment or evaluation of something. An opinion is not a fact, because opinions are either not falsifiable, or the opinion has not been proven or verified.

I only give my opinion. If I have to resort to looking up the answer then I won't bother. The only time I give a link is if someone asks for it.
