Forever and a day.

Seriously if your can has not been compromised it should be fine. But really, if you are worried toss the old ones. Tuna is not that expensive.

Search the can for the experation date... If you do not find a date.. then call the company at the 800 number and give them the numbers on the can.. they can tell you if the fish is still good.

I think that everything in a can, as long as it isn't dented or damaged, should be good. I know that I have used items 2 years past their experation date, and haven't had a problem. While I believe that it would be good, try at your own risk. Always remember, if in doubt - throw it out!!!

3 years? No problem. I have tuna in the cupboard dated til like 2010, and I bought it more than a year ago. Just smell it before you use it - you'll know!

since tuna is a fish and not a fruit i would be suspicious of any can that might be 3 years old. pitch all of it and go to the store. 50 cents for a can of tuna is a lot less than emergency room bills for food poisoning.

Perfectly safe.

The only reason they have best before / eat by dates is that they are required to have them by law.

They have opened cans of meat going back to the second world war and found the contents perfectly edible.

So long as the can is in good conition it will still be edible in 50 years time.

Probably is safe depending upon what the temperature of storage was over those 3 years. If there are no breaks in the seams of the can it is probably OK.

Most Canned Fruits/ Meats and Stews have a recommended shelf life of up to 2 years! But if your can is intact (no bulging) and it doesn't have a funny odor you should be just fine.

I'm pretty sure that fish are like twinkies in that they last forever. I would say it would probably be good for 80-90 years.
