The gallup poll found in the link below has some interesting findings. "These responses suggest that the negative impression held by many [about Mormons] may be a fairly straightforward result of disagreements on doctrine."
Because someone disagrees with another on doctrinal matters do they look negatively upon the other? Wouldn't that be wrong? In a country that prides itself in diversity and freedom to practice one's religion are people negatively judging people based on their individual beliefs? And not just based on their beleifs, but on the fact that they don't hold their beliefs.
Another interesting part of this poll was the most common thing that came to peoples minds was polygamy, which hasn't even been practiced in the Mormon church for nearly 120 years. Apparently people still think it happens. Odd.
What makes our country great is the diverse views and beliefs. I don't judge someone because of their belief and respect all people.

What is dumb is that there are no Mormons AND Polygamists. Those who choose to have more than one spouse, are excommunicated. The Church does not allow that anymore. For people to say that, "well there are mormon towns of polygamists all over southern utah" is a lie. Those people broke off and started their own religion, they no longer belong to the Mormon faith.
There are many people nowadays who disagree so intently with the Mormons, that it blinds their judgement, and even some who consider themselves Christians. Whats really sad is that Mitt Romney is a very moral person, would do anything to make this world a better place to live and enjoy, but he is the one that is greatly criticized for his beliefs. If his beliefs help us have a better place to live, a stronger economy and if he is someone that we know will tell truth and that we can trust with our own lives, why wouldnt they vote for him? Kinda of weird huh?
Everyone needs to learn to respect one another and try and understand each other. It's ridiculous what people will say and do, just so that someone with a different perspective and belief system won't become their leader, when in actuality, it would benefit them more if persay, they were to vote for someone with no morals or ethics or only cared about their own agenda!

Who knows and who cares. I'm a very conservative Christian, who is Mormon. If people want to believe lies and not do the research themselves then that's up to them.
The people practicing polygamy are not part of our church. They broke off over 100 years ago and have completely different beliefs. They segregate themselves from society and break all sorts of laws. No one in the LDS church practices polygamy, I would never go to a church that did that. That's so sick!
Oh, and we do believe in the Bible and that Jesus is our Savior.

They're just carrying on the proud tradition of tolerance on which America was founded. I wonder how many of those polled know why the Mormon church ended up in Utah? Probably not if the only thing they know about it is polygamy. lol
I've always been astounded by the venom with which "christians" refer to the good people of the LDS church. I'm also astounded that there is no guilt or shame in most people when they learn of the horrible way the LDS church was treated: robbed, raped, murdered, and driven out of the "land of the free" because their religious beliefs were different.
Weird, huh?

I think that there is truth to every religion. I am a Mormon, but I have also been to many other faiths. I am one who does not believe that I am better then anyone else. About Polygamy in the Mormon Church, The only reason that the Church practiced it was because during the war, many of the husbands died, leaving mother and children fatherless. They wanted families to be able to support and help each other. So, polygamy was aloud. It is true now, that we do not practice polygamy.

I totally disagree w/ your entire premise.
Actually, while polygamy is no longer encouraged by the Mormon church, it is still practiced. Those practicing it simply do not marry the successive wives legally. Turn on the T.V.
& why is judgement a bad thing? I judge those who commit violent crimes, those who abuse & violate another person & etc.
What makes our country great is not the "diverse views & beliefs", it is the great people who bring their diverse goals & dreams to fruition.
& BTW most Mormons would be considered highly conservative, so there again you need to check your premises.

If polygamy doesn't exist why do I keep seeing documentaries on this very topic among Mormons? They are doing this, no not all but it does happen. Some in entire towns!
Now the reason the more conservative Christians object to the cult of Mormonism is we know the bible.
The Christian faith is based on Jesus and Gods inspired bible. Most Christian denominations only differ on minor teachings. BUT the LDS differ on Many scripture. The believe for example;
There are many gods
Adam is the god of earth
If one is saved they will be a god of their own planet
One can be baptized for a dead loved one
Blacks were demons before they fell to earth (this has been recanted)
and much much more bizarre beliefs!

It goes much deeper than differences in doctrine. Some of the Mormons do still practice polygamy they usually keep quiet about it though for fear of the feds. They practice baptism for the dead, eternal marriage, unholy rituals in their temple, some still practice blood atonement. Their religion is based on Free Masonry and some ancient Scottish rites along with Joseph Smith's own special twist. They are a cult, I personally believe them to be a satanic cult. I know more about their religion and their past history than most of them do, but then if anything says anything negative about the religion they are not supposed to read it. They basically practice theocratic communism, if they actually became Christians they would have it down better than all other Christians. For anyone to deny or think that they no longer practice polygamy is pretty ignorant, the main part of the church don't but only because it is against federal law otherwise they would, there are lots of branches off of the main church however that still practice, Southern Utah has entire towns that are nothing but polygamists.

It is also an issue of honesty. The president of the Mormon church is on Google video saying that the people outside the church don't deserve to know the truth about their church. He goes on to say that he lies to them.
If a person lies about one thing, he will likely lie about others. Their credibility is at stake. That is more the problem with Mormons and those caught lying.

because of the fact u . s . of america is prepared approximately faith and maximum persons would be unable to chop up politics from faith, even nevertheless its a key concept of the form. additionally, many Christian conservatives experience threatened by skill of mormons, because of the fact they lose participants to them, and having a mormon president could dispell the myths and fears evangelical ministers have created with the intention to maintain their people damaging to mormons.

Most conservatives are of a "christian" faith, and these faiths preach against the Mormon church (LDS) for some reason. Therefore, they don't like the Mormons. And that is that.
