So, you're a late bloomer - that's fine. I think the 30's are a whole lot better than the 20's because you know yourself better, you know what you want, what you don't want, you stand up for yourself, and you are more sure of yourself.
Find things that you are passionate about, things that fulfill you and do them. Pursue your passions doggedly and this will increase the happiness you feel. That joy will give you confidence because you will like your life and like yourself.

The way to avoid depression is also the way to be happy -- live in the present moment, which is the only moment that really ever exists. You may wish that in the past something different happened (and so do most people, I think) but you cannot relive those years. You also cannot live in the future. Being unhappy about the past or worrying about the future are the two sure routes to depression. But in the only moment that really ever exists, the present, right now, in this moment, you can smile and choose to be happy in almost any circumstances. And then with that smile and happy outlook, in time maybe many people will come into your life to share that happiness.

As simple as it sounds, get a pet first. There are so many people who when all else fails live for their pets plus they are wonderful at cheering you up and making everything better even if just for a minute. Start there and keep trying on a people level. Also try depression support groups. There are people there who are dealing with the same situation and want to make life better too. It's a place to start.

You have recognized the problem and want to change, that's a good thing. Some counseling would help. Also choose an activity/club make yourself go and talk to people even if you don't feel like it. Action is a good remedy and it will help break your pattern. Perhaps some of your trouble is just force of habit.
Good Luck

Take everyday as a blessing, try to do somebody a good turn without them knowing it was you. Hold your head up high and smile at people you pass. The right people will come into your life, just may take a little time.

He did no longer get which comprise Marty until after that. They left and Cole replaced into born off-exhibit. yet while Cole first appeared he replaced into older than Starr! i assume we are meant to miss.

Remember that each day is a gift.
You cannot get back the past only live the present and hope for the future!
Take and live each day as if it were your last!
