Usually when acne is in an isolated area, it is inflammatory acne -- a reaction to something that is in continual contact with that particular part of the body or face. So, the problem may be your boyfriend's shampoo/hair products. Have him switch brands, to any brand, just to see if this clears things up. Also, if he is a fan of hats, have him go a week without one to see if there are any improvements -- inflamatory acne can also be a result of friction between the skin and material. Hope this helps!

check natural health and food stores for tea tree oil shampoos. or beauty supply stores for dr.bronner's 18-in-1 castille soap the peppermint or tea tree type. It lasts because it has a powerful lather and can really absorb the dirt and oils in his hair. This could also be from another problem, is hair braided, or in dreads or anything like that? then he probably needs a shampoo with sulfur such as sulfur 8.

You don't have to use a type of shampoo. Tell him while he's showering, have his hair wet and pour salt on his scalp and rub...and leave it in for about 1-2 min.

I have psoriasis on my scalp and that is what it does. I use Denorex 2.5 coal tar and it works very good, but at any case he should go to the dermatologist and make sure.
