Chicken is considered meat and is not allowed.

Catholics in the United States are obliged to abstain from the eating of meat on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays during the season of Lent.

They are also obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday.

Self-imposed observance of fasting on all weekdays of Lent is strongly recommended. This is where people also give up chocolate, sarcasm, or something else for Lent.

With love in Christ.

Yes, chicken is included.

The sole exception to the concept of mammal flesh meat is in certain areas of South America where the capybara, a primarily aquatic rodent (largest rodent in the world), is permitted because the rivers contain very few fish and the populus could not survive on the small catch of fish.

There is dispensation for medical reasons, but these are overseen by the parishioner's conscience, not by decree.

Chicken is meat and you cant eat it for Lent. In the country I come from we eat only vegetarian all Fridays of Lent. Seafood is avoided since fish is so delicious and so is considered a sacrifice to abstain eating from.

Don't get confuse. They are following the commandments of men. IT IS ALL UNBIBLICAL. Just tell them to show you where in the Holy Bible that says not to eat meat, chicken, etc?

They will tell you to read man-made catechism for answers.

I'm afraid so. I went to Catholic school for 8 years (1963-1971) and was told that chicken is, indeed, meat. Sorry!

I think there is an old tradition that they can eat Barnacle Geese, as these were belived to turn in to barnacles during the winter, so are actually shellfish. Sounds silly, I know, but check it out.
