I read the other advice and it was all good. Just want to add a couple more (I am the mother of 3 children, now aged 20, 19 and 14).
Remember, your child is not you. He/she is a separate individual. Respect him/her as a separate person. Let him/her have his/her own feelings, wants, opinions, etc.
Also, take time to really bond/attach with your baby. In America, people don't hold/touch their children much. Children need TOUCH. Hold your baby as much as you can in the first couple of months. Wear a baby carrier and carry them around with you when you do chores (instead of putting them in a baby seat). The most important thing to a child is the love of their parents. Bonding with your child will give them a firm foundation for emotional and mental health.

dont be quiet around your baby or tell other people ssshhhhh the baby is sleeping get the baby used to noise trust me it will be the best thing you can ever do there is nothing worse than not being able to vacuum or clean around a sleeping baby.... if they do wake up because of the noise leave them they WILL go back to sleep...... also dont always pick the baby up when they cry otherwise they end up crying just for that reason there are times when you just need to shut the door and let them cry it is actually good for their lungs beleive it or not..... as far as marrying the father goes as someone has said i am not married i had my son at 16 and i am now turning 21 pregnant with my second child to the same partner and wont get married for a few years yet as long as your both there for your child that is all that matters

Congratulations. The most important thing you can do is make sure the soon to be baby doctor has giving you a number to call him after hours. That's when the baby will probley get sick or display questionable symptoms. Doctors are there for even the silly questions too. Make sure you have support from family. It's exciting and stressful. Good luck.

Learn to sleep when your baby naps! Chores will still be there when the baby is awake!
Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Your ability to care for your baby depends upon you taking care of YOURSELF.
Take the baby out in the stroller as often as possible.
Enlist the help of grandparents and friends who can help you out from time to time so that you have some "me time".
PLAY WITH YOUR BABY! Too many people focus on the work part and forget just how much fun it is to play with their child.
I used to talk to my sons about EVERYTHING. "Mommy is folding your shirt, Mommy is folding your socks"...etc.
Read to your baby. It's never too early to help them love learning.
Play peek-a-boo. Learn to make a fool of yourself to entertain your child. They will love it and you will, too!
Most importantly, TELL your child you love them as often as possible.

Have a great support team. I thought I only wanted my husband in with me when I went into labor. I ended up needing my mother and stepfather with me because it was so hard and I was so out of it. First pregnancys are rough. And they never go like you plan. Take lamaze too! Prepare early! Diapers, clothes, tons of wipes, bottles:)

Learn to pick your battles, ignore temper tantrums, shut the door on a messy bedroom, ask yourself if it is going to matter in 20 years.

Yes, if you are not married to the guy who got you pregnant, you might want to consider marrying him -- children need two parents not a single unwed mother with a boyfriend du jour.
