I guess that's just a stereotype because a lot of that is expected from their religion. I would certainly trust anyone (Christian or otherwise) more if they showed their flawed, human side. We all have one. I couldn't identify with someone who really acted goody-goody and perfect *all the time*.

Christians are human, thus they will sin. A difference between believers & non-believers is the act of asking forgivness from God for those sins & repenting. If we live our lives on pedestals the only place to go would be down. Christians are not "better" than anyone else, they simply try to do the right thing. If you read the Old Testiment you will discover that God can be pretty far from "goody-goody & polite".

I expect EVERYONE to 'walk their talk' and Christians should be completely Christ-like.
Don't you agree?
Otherwise, what's the point?
For example, I'm a knitter. I make great socks--every time I do it. I measure the foot for the sock, make sure the cuff will fit over the heel and ankle, size the instep and length, and knit it in colors and materials the person will find comfortable. I don't make one good sock and one bad one, or two bad pair for every three good ones, and I certainly don't 'testify' to the wonderfulness of socks but not produce any!
I can only conclude that Christianity is a facetious, all-talk-and-no performance bunch, if they only testify, and worse if they act out in an opposite way to their 'testimony.'

When you become a Christian and Christ dwells in you, I do expect a persons behaviour and actions to reflect that.
I was heavily involved in churches for the past 10 years and found many Christians to be judgemental and hypocritical of others including other Christians. Just try announcing to other Christians that you read your children Harry Potter and see the reactions.

Christians rarely are nice, goody-goody, perfect and polite....so perhaps they are rebelling from that expectation, over-compensating in a kind of a punk way?

WE ALL SIN regardless of who we are but luckely for us God has Grace and mercy and forgives us for what we do wrong as long as we ask him to. God tell us that nobody but God is allowed to judge us because none of us are worthy enough to judge others that is left up to God (judging us is) ...... of course we aren't gonna be perfect but striving towards it is a good goal and once you fall back down get back up again and keep striving : ) no it does not ruin a christians testimony when they act human because it is NATURAL EVERYONE DOES IT but you learn from your mistakes and they eventually become apart of your testimony, and then others will realize that we are no greater than them we just serve a God that is FORGIVING .

we're not by God, but by non-believers and misconceptionists.
I have to keep from sin, not be a goody-goody. there's a difference. Jesus said to "turn the other cheek", but that refers to persecution, as we're even supposed to wage mental warfare, just like Joshua did. But really, if someone outright slaps me for an invalid reason, what do you honestly think I'm gunna do?
and a saint is anyone who knows God, not just dead people who did great things. You could technically call me "Saint Ray" if you wanted, but i wouldn't encourage it...

Let's say that is the idea, how many perfect people do you know? Not even Christians, Preachers, Pastors, Catholic Priest, or the Church Pianist are perfect. We are all sinners, we have just been forgiven because perfection for us is impossible. That's God's work, mine is striving for excellence. Heard that from Michael J. Fox years ago.

If Christianity were the true religion, wouldn't you expect the followers to somehow have some moral advantage?
And besides, it seems like Christians today rarely try to mold their lives around Christ's teachings. Perhaps the hypocrisy is irritating.

Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
