My husband, a Laboratory Scientist, considers tap water adequate for washing 'stuff' - but you won't see him EVER drinking it...Regardless of the city. I cannot abide the smell of (any) city water, and couldn't get it down unless life itself depended on it. We have an installed, under the sink, top of the line, triple filter, reverse osmosis unit. The taste of coffee (WOW!), tea and everything is SO much better. The way it was meant to be.
And, by the way, it takes 25 minutes of boiling to kill the bacteria etc.

I cook with Spring water regardless how the city water tastes... You never know what they process that city water with and what happens to it when it gets boiled!

No, I used filtered water. I get my 5 gallon containers filled at a water company & use the same water I use to drink to cook with.

I use tap water. The water in my town is one of the best in the US (according to some research). I would drink it too but I like reeeeaaaalllllly cold water and my tap is not cooled. lol. If you're worried about bacteria, most of the stuff you cook should be in boiling watter which kills, most if not all, bacteria.
