I occasionally straighten my hair using a straightening iron. Is it better to do this when your hair is slightly damp or completly dry? Should you use any kind of cream of conditioner in your hair so there is less damage

DEFINATELY do it when your hair is totally dry, it causes way more damage when it's damp. There are serums that you can buy to put in your hair before you blow dry it that help protect your hair from the heat.

I straighten my hair everyday..so I know what damage is. You should wait until your hair is dry and then straighten it. But before you straighten, I would go to Walmart or any store and purchase the TRESemme Instant Heat Tamer. It makes your hair soft and shiny and it protects against the heat. Clip up your hair in different layers then spray it. Like clip your hair up all the way but leave some of it down, spray some, and then straighten. Keep doing it until your hair is done. Other TRESemme products are also good for your hair.

Always starighten your hair when it is completley dry. It is also best to use a heat protection product before, and to use a ceramic flat iron since they are less damaging than the metal ones. It may sound gross but you shouldn't wash your hair for a few days to let your natural oils remoisturize. If you wash and starighten everyday your hair will become very brittle and break off, get split ends, etc. And to get the best results use a hair clip and straighten in sections.

DONT DO IT WITH YOUR HAIR DAMP!!
because a) it damages your hair big time and b) wont stay sraight long!!

I would recomend putting serum in your hair when your drying it !! that will protect it and then just straighten away:)

COMPLETELY DRY

The heat from the straightners literallly boils away the water in your hair causing lots of unneccessary damage.
Use a heat proctection spray, there's a good Charles Worthington one available that isn't tooo expensive.

its better when its dry so it won't burn your hair. Also use heat protectant and Pantene and Garnier Fructis are really good conditioners and shampoos to use.
