In most cases this is true. If you are comparing the same car with a V6 vs. a V4. The 300ZX might be on some insurance carriers list of cars that they won't write. Check with your agent.

The Nissan 300ZX is probably one of the most expensive cars to insure. It has nothing to do that it is a V6, it is that it is a sports premium car. If you really want to know how much it is, call your insurance agent, get a quote on that car & get a quote on a new civic & see what the difference is. You can also get a quote on another V6 (I believe a Corolla is a V6?) & see that difference. The cost of the vehicle plays a part, damageability, cost of parts, cost to repair, number of accidents reported for the year make & model, number of thefts of the vehicle, etc (essentially the claims paid for each vehicle) help to determine the cost of the insurance.

Because a 300ZX is labeled a "sports car" your insurance is going to be higher than for something like a Civic or a Camry. HOWEVER, you also have to look at the theft insurance - Civics and other cars like that are among the most stolen in the US. (Google "most stolen cars" and you'll get the whole list.)

Cars are assigned "symbols" to establish their rates. I'd imagine some 6 cylinder cars have a lower symbol than some 4 cylinder cars, but on the whole, the more power, the more the insurance.
Your agent can give you a quote on a variety of models that you are considering, so you can compare the insurance rates BEFORE you buy the car.

It depends on the car. If you want to find out how much insurance rates are on the car before buying it, call your insurance agent and ask him. Then there will be no guessing.
Good Luck.

Make a list of your 5 favorite cars you might buy. Call someone like AIG and tell them you are looking to buy a car and get the cost based on the driver and the car.
