It's YOUR day girl - do what you want! If I had had my way when I got married I would NEVER of had bridesmaids at all...BUT everyone said 'you gotta have them!'....A girlfriend of mine didn't have a maid of honour but had a 'man' of honour - her best friend was a guy and it was just awesome seeing him stand beside her at the altar....just beautiful! ..good luck to you!!

Ask a cousin, a future sister in law heck ask one of your Aunts or even your Mother. I would not have a wedding without a MOH. Your MOH does not need to be your best friend but, someone that means something to you. I asked my childhood friend that I see every five years at high school reunions and she was honored even though we are as close as we were when we were kids it meant a lot to the both of us.

this may surprise you but it was my solution in a similar situation and although in your culture it is considered different but not unheard of why not ask your mother, or even a favorite aunt to be your Matron of honor. There is no rule that says they have to be your best friend or that it has ot be female, maybe you have a cousin or even a teacher that you would like to ask. after all it is your day and you should be surrounded by people who know you and respect you.
Congratulation and best wishes to you both as you start you new life together.
May GOD grant you both always
A sunbeam to warm you
A moonbeam to charm you
A sheltering angel
So nothing can harm you.

The maid of honor signs your license as a witness...do you have a sister or an aunt or maybe the groom-to-be has sister or aunt? Maybe your mom?? How about a brother, even? I am female and I was my dad's "best man".....

Not at all! They're not going to be wearing signs saying what they are, so no one will know the difference. I'm getting married in Sept. and I've been reading alot of books, web sites, and mags and they all say that it's not uncommon to have a different number bridesmaids than groomsmen or even to have male friend standing up with you. Don't sweat it, you have enough to worry about.

YES....someone has to stand up for you. That person has task to do to help you out. I am sure you can think of one of those girls who has been friends with you the longest or have a very special bond with one of them who wouldn't mind taken on those task for you. Just think about it and if not family is always welcomed to stand for you!!! A cousin or sister...

Some one has to be the matron of honor. There must be some female in your life or family that can be this role.......I wish you luck.
