Pay it.

Some bad credit marks are removed after three years. Most remain for seven.

It takes 7 years for it to go off your credit file. Not much you can do till then except pay it. Even if you pay it, it still shows up but does show as paid. (I am a licensed collection manager)

Pay your debt or wait from 5 - 7 years for it to be removed from your credit report. There are no shortcuts or easy ways out. sorry.

I believe the only way is to pay for it. Or, if you wait about two or three years with no contact with the collector, you can have it removed from your credit report. That's why collectors insist on you working out a payment with them. Every time you speak with them, your days start all over. But, if you don't pay them anything, or talk to them for I believe three years, you can file to have it removed from your credit report and the collectors can no longer get you to pay.

I used http://www.lexingtonlaw.com/ and they are great! My credit was the worst after my divorce and now I have a house, a car and any credit I want. Plus, its not too expensive.
