Ugh...my male coworker (who has a higher rank than I do) is always hitting on me - he knows I have a boyfriend but he is relentless. I would really like to settle this between us and without jepordizing my job....what's the best way to go about it without being threatening?

No matter what you can't be funny or jokey about it or he won't take you seriously.

One option, as bad as it sounds, is to insult him every time he hits on you. He can't make a fuss about it because you can just as easily make a fuss about being hit on. Like a dog who misbehaves and is scolded until he learns not to do so, he should curb his efforts in favor of not being insulted every time he talks to you.

Short of that I would be very blunt and let him know it's not cool. As a guy I can say your boyfriend should be a little miffed by this. Some guys don't like it when the boyfriend gets involved, so you could also try talking about your boyfriend a lot, and even telling this guy, once in a while, how you counted for your boyfriend how many times you get hit on in a week. Basically, you want to use the psychology of pitting him against someone other than you to get him thinking otherwise.

A quicker fix is to kick him in the balls.

The first thing to do is tell your manager about what's happening. Then you need to go with your manager to HR and lodge a formal complaint. No one wants to see person lose there job, but, you can't do your job with some knucklehead bugging you.

be upfront and let him know that you do not appreciate his advances if he continues put it in writing to a person above him and if it continues, contact the labor board and sue the pants off of the company. Your job should not be jeopardized. if it was it'd be another reason to sue for even more money.

be honest with him in a non threatening way. Say like this is inappropriate for the work place. Tell him in private

sounds like some kind of power trip for him. go to your boss or someone above him. or just ignore him if he knows it bothers you then he will continue to do it. hes not right in the head. if he has a girlfriend then next time he says something to you say to him "lets ask your firl how she would feel about that".

Tell him flat out that you do not appreciate his attention and if he continues you will take the issue to Human Resources. And then follow up on that if he doesn't leave you alone.

Have you tried outright rejection, not verbally but just good old fashioned rejection.
Once or twice ought to get the message across.

You need to take this to HR. Also, it's ok if you let him know that you're filing a complaint against him

Firstly, tell him a resounding 'No'. If that doesn't work, contact human resources and also consider contacting your state's attorney's general office. Good luck.
