how can i fix this so that it starts normally again, and does not automatically select Windows Setup right away?

Hola 7!

I think you probably left the installation CD in the CD-ROM. If not, well you need to get your self a copy of the latest WINXP manager, you can edit the startup and safely unintall other operating system (operational or non-operating as in your case).

If you're 'nerdy' you can delete the new files of the new installation that never completed and do not forget to edit the "BOOT.INI" file. The new installation should have a funny name enclosed in several "$$$" -> dollar signs 'charlie'... I hope you catch my drift, atleast it will get you to da lite side of life man

OR my favourite option: format the drive and start all over again. Atleast this way things will be back to normal...

Have you been into the BIOS and made sure that the primary boot device is your hard drive and not the CD/DVD ROM?
