what is the registry on my computer and should i buy a program to clean it out/?

The Registry stores information for Windows. You can clean it out by using CCleaner...it does a good job. Only use it if you have XP, I have had problems using it on Windows 98. When you start it, click the Issues button on the left, then Scan for Issues near the bottom. Once it's done, click the Fix Selected Issues button to remove them. Also, be sure to create a backup when it asks you, just in case.
