I'm going to be in Puerto Rico for a week in July, and I someone told me that it rains everyday in the summer.

Is this true?

Here is the actual weather for July 2006.

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/sju/LCD_DATA/JSJLCDJUL_2006.txt
It gives the daily max and min temperatures and the amount of rainfall in inches (column 7).

This data shows that it did rain every day....

some days got 0.01 to 0.02 inches (hardly any)
some got 1.5 to 2.08 inches (a ltlle bit more).

For other months check here:

As one of the other answers states. When it rains here, it is usually a tropical downpour (and hence a lot of rain in a short period of time). Once the rain has stopped the sun gets right back out and you would never know it had rained.

But, it's the weather, so you can never really predict what it will do (but that is the same for a lot of places).

Hope this helps

It doesn't rain every day. When my hubby and I first moved here over a year ago, he told me the rainy season was april - may. That has rang true, sometimes it rains every day in a week, but not all day rain. Just like a 10 minute shower here and there. This island isn't that big, so we get the small sprinkles from the passing clouds.

The weather is very unpredictable. On the west side of the island it rains every day around 1 pm. But in the other end there is a shinny sun. You can never tell how the weather is going to be like. Be prepared for some showers that will disappear quickly, for a hot and warm sun, and a lot of humidity.

I lived there for quite a while. first of all it depends on which side of the island youre on - the north side of the island (San Juan) is more tropical than the south side (Ponce) so it rains a little more in the north than it does down south...but even on the more tropical side it only dumps about every 4 to 6 days in the summer. (You might get a light sprinkle in between the downpours but nothing major!) for more info log on to
