Don't wear jeans
Don't wear scarves or anything you might trip over
Do wear track pants or similar (or long yoga pants with tights underneath)
Do wear gloves, water-proof if possible
Do wear layers so that you can take clothes off as you get hot (hoodies and polar fleece tops are great outer layers)
Do bring 2 pairs of socks, 1 thin and 1 thick so you can get a good fit in your rental skates
Some practical pants can be found here:

Obviously you don't have to order the pants off this website, but these are some kinds of pants you can wear skating.

As a figure skater, I know even though the rink is indoors it is cold. I would suggest A long sleeved shirt, a hoodie, and a winter coat. That way you have 3 layers and as you begin to warm up, if you get hot you can take a layer off. And as for pants, I would suggest those water proof ones, some people call them warm up pants, they dry fast if they get wet, just incase you fall. And if you can't find those try a pair of black pants. But what ever you do DON'T so if you are renting skates bring 2 pairs of socks, one thin pair and one thick pair, you never know what might happen with rental skates. Other things you should have are gloves, headbands or a hat, and a hair elastic. Most girls wear their hair up while skating, its easier. But don't wear a scarf, it might get caught on your skate or someone else's and you might fall or trip over it and you might get hurt. And just have fun, I enjoy skating and I think everyone should! Good Luck!

hey! this is the answer i left for someone whp asked a similar question
hey, firstly don't wear jeans. if you fall over and get wet, denim gets heavy and doesn't dry fast. wear trackies. and a shirt and a jumper and a jacket on top which is not long. don't wear a scarf because if it dangles down and gets caught up in yours or someone Else's skates it could cause an accident, most rinks don't allow scarfs etc to be worn anyway. also wear gloves to keep you hands warm but also to protect your fingers if you fall over and someone skates over you hands. like i mentioned before wear layers because although you think you may get cold ice skating you can get quite hot because it is exercise. wear thick socks as rental boots are not all that comfy. lastly enjoy yourself :)
i cant find any good pictures of what pants to wear but just average trackies will do, not too thin =D

i have been iceskating interior, and that i extremely did not word any particular dresses being worn. warmth outfits of route, I extra gloves too yet did not opt for them. Iceskating round for some hours easily become no longer as chilly as I initially theory. I extra a sweatshirt and that become adequate. JW

well if it's like your first time u dont need special pants or anything, just wear like yoga pants with warm inside lining (doesnt have to be too warm) also dont wear jeans because if you fall the water will soak in and it will be uncomfortable. wear a long sleeve shirt, a zip-up hoodie, and gloves. u can wear a scarf if u get cold easily but dont overdo that. wear thin, long socks.

Hey, I'm gonna give you a guys perspective, especially since my gf and i used to go skating a lot. Like most people said, don't wear jeans. don't wear nylon pants, because to be honest, its not so attractive, especially on a date. Wear yoga (lululemon) pants, because if its wet, its not so bad, they look super hot. Also, i personally think any girl in a hoody is hot. go for the hoodie. if you wear a jacket, you'll be limited in your movement. if you are under good circumstances wear thick sox. and since you are already in a comfortable look, a hat is always good.
to summarize:
Lululemon (yoga) pants
hoodie
hat
thick sox if you can
good luck, have fun, be safe :)

The best thing to wear is like a running suit, a sweater gloves, short sleeve shirt under the sweater so if you get hot you can take the sweater off.

well, it doesnt really matter. i am an ice skater, but when i would ice skate for fun, or when i dont have to wear my outfits, i wear, jazz pants or sweatpants or jeans, a sweater, maybe a hoodie, a long sleeve shirt. it all keeps you warm.sometimes a hat, but almost never i do! hope that helps!

You should wear athletic windbreaker pants. They are nylon on the outside and fleece on the inside. They are normally under $20. I have attached a link so you can see them - obviously you don't wantr the color in the picture but you get the idea. These are specific for skating.

As for the top, wear a long sleeve t-shirt under a windbreaker or fleece jacket, or under a hoody.
Hope this helps.

When going skating, it doesn't really matter what you wear. I wouldn't recommend jeans, though. Hoodies and sweaters are good, and stretchy pants work very well. Almost anything would work. Just no jeans. Believe me!
