I am currently in dental school and will be getting out in a few years. Dentists can prescribe drugs just like a doctor can for anxiety, pain, infection etc. Will I be able to prescribe my own drugs? Would it ever be questioned? Can anyone prescribe their own medication?

Ok, I know a doctor and she has to get medicine from other doctor's prescribing it to her.

Thing is, doctors of all sorts get sample medications for their patients and many of them will take these SAMPLES of newer medications home with them.

It isn't appropriate and is looked down upon. You will be watched closely, any odd prescriptions or whatever can be quickly forwarded to the police department by a pharamist if they are suspscious. They can refuse to take you prescriptions and put a hault on your whole business. You will learn about all this in business ethics of which I'm sure you will go over in class.

Yes you can prescribe your own drugs. I've heard of our ER docs saying they've prescribed meds for themselves and families many times.
