Because if you take Genesis literally, there were other people outside the garden of Eden. Non-Jews, those *not* of the gentes, folks like the Celts, Romans, Chinese, Persians, Greeks, etc.
The Abrahamic deity was not their deity, is not their deity and should not be claimed as their deity.
That's because Abrahamic mythology, like most mythologies, originally was of a people, by a people, about how said people were different from the other people....
Meaning the other people should be left to their own gods.
In other words- Biblical literalists should not proseltyze.

The Mosaic law were the laws and regulations passed from God to Moses directly, for the Israelite people. There are other covenants God made with people that are still in effect. Genesis has nothing to do with it.
