OF COARSE THEY'RE REAL SPEAKERS! TURN ON YOUR RADIO AND STICK YOUR EAR AGAINST ONE.

I've never even seen a Golf but I can't fathom why any car company would not put speakers in their doors and just put covers over them...

BTW... you can hook the radio right up and that would tell you if their are speakers there or not.

Also, you can probably try to gleam some light through the speaker cover and if it is shiny u probably got a speaker, OR you can take the door panel or speaker cover off and check.

2000 Golfs have 4 speakers standard. Hook the radio right up and it should work

Yes, those are speakers. If you're lucky you've got one in each door, and then they're should be one at the top of every door as well. For example, there's one in the door by your foot, and then one in the top of the door by the air conditioner/heater vent. My VW Golf came with the Monsoon system and has eight speakers. I have a kenwood cd player in it, and they all work.

Yes they are speakers! My 2000 MkIV Golf had the Monsoon stereo package with 8 speakers (at least) and sounded great.
