Why do people treat descent people like **** and fall in love with something worthless?

Not that I'm perfect but, I feel that I'm good catch. I've only had 2 real relationships (long term) and I can't understand why guys (or should I say people in general) lead someone on, only to hurt them in the end?

Need a lot more details then that to give a specific answer to how you were personaly led astray. But typically usually comes down to good old ego, Pride in other words. We have a personal sense of pride and a social sense of pride, its just unfornatly we have a tendency to put them at odds with each other causing us to do some pretty stupid actions. No good fix really but to find someone who has a health sense of both.
