Then no bedding in the crate for him. Take out all bedding, and leave only the toys.

Eating the blankets or matts can cause intestinal blockages, and possible surgery for your dog to remove them.

He's better off without any bedding in the crate if he's going to eat it.

He'll be fine without the bedding. Think about it, dogs will lay down on a tile floor and are just fine. I'm assuming he's younger so as he matures this behavior should stop. Wait til he's older to place blankets back in with him. If he's actually eating the blankets they can cause a blockage in his digestive tract which can cause major problems and the surgery is very expensive so prevention is your best bet. Hope this helps!

Ahhhhh, Min-Pins!! This is what they do.

He is pretending he is in hunt mode, looking for the rats he dreams of...Min-Pins have a strong prey-drive and are highly energetic.

Take out anything that has stuffing in it..ie..duvets etc...put in old beach towels...rough and hard to tear. Nylabones may not be enough for your little hunter....Get a appropriate sized kong fill it with kong filler, or dog biscuits, coat with creamcheese and freeze it before giving it to him. (messy-but fun!)

The one thing you must do...Exercise him....You may think he has had enough of a walk, but I guarantee you your min-pin can go an extra mile. 45 minutes in morning and a hour at night. let him sniff and venture in a field (enclosed) on a long line. You MIn-Pin will astonish you with his hunting skills.

Good Luck!

Is it possible that he is playing with his toys and "burying" them in the blankets. If he is doing this he would probably be ripping up the blankets. I had a dog that did this so it is just a thought.

Stop placing them in there. Many crated dogs get bored with their toys and turn to what ever else is available. Sometimes they just have to make do with the plastic or metal trays that come with the crate.

I would put a thick rubber mat down like the ones you put outside doors that won't be fun for him to play with by shredding, and if he persists then he may have to do without a mat until he is older and not so destructive. As long as your house is warm it won't hurt him.
