A ship in port has a rope ladder that hangs over the side and into the water. The rungs on the ladder are exactly a foot apart, from center to center. At low tide, three rungs of the ladder are under water. How many rungs will be under water at high tide, which is exactly three feet higher than low tide?

3 rungs will still be underwater, when the tide rises, so will the floating boat, leaving 3 rungs still underwater.

I guess would be the same as low tides: three because the number of rungs do not really change except for the height.. So 3 is the answer..

3 I agree with the first person. The ship floats so it's always on top of the water. If we were standing in the low tide it would be at our ankles lets say, during high tide it would be above our knees. But if we were floating in the high tide it's wouldn't make a difference.

3 rungs. 6 rungs. or 9 rungs cuz there are three tides? one low tide, one just right, and one high tide? so, 3*3 tides = 9
