yer, i am a Christian and soooo many times i would just like to crawl into a deep dark hole and just stay there when i see the behaviour of some so called "Christians".

Oh well, if a person really is a Christian, ull see from their actions, and if they want to pretend to be Christians, i think many of them need to go to acting classes, cos they are reaaly bad it! ; )

That is the main reason I avoid obviously Christian people as friends. You can't have a discussion with them. There is no sharing of ideas, if you think differently you are a bad person and your going to fry in hell no ifs ands or butts. There are only lectures and tirades. There was a time in my life when I felt like I was missing something and that it might be religion that I needed, but I was having trouble accepting some of the beliefs of my church. Every time I tried to have a discussion with one of the members though they just went off on their fire and brimstone speeches, and that was the end for me.

Sigh. Yeah, but there's not a lot you can do about it. A lot of people are very afraid to question their beliefs, even far enough to discuss their own beliefs in a scholarly manner. They think it'll tempt them away from their faith, which it won't if their faith is on solid ground, but will if it isn't. (mine wasn't. and yes, I'm not still a Christian. I don't think the loss of my house of cards is a great one.)

It's also true that a lot of Christians assume that if you're not, any possible reason you might have for discussing their beliefs is part of your agenda of tempting them away from Christ. In my case, I just like studying beliefs. So anyway, that's where some of the animosity comes from. And to be fair, others do it, too. If a Christian comes up to me and asks to talk about my religion, because they saw my pagan jewelry, I immediately go on the defensive.

It's just an unfortunate fact that a lot of discussions about religion don't go in a friendly manner. We have to work to overcome our initial reservations, which is very hard in a format like this one.

Of course, which is why I don't really care now if I offend them. I used to try and be more polite. But what with all the hate mail and nasty answers to questions many of them give, I figure it just isn't worth it. If they are going to treat me that way, they will not have my respect.

On behalf of those Christians, I apologize. Personally, I TRY not to do that; I actually try to answer questions. Please try to understand, many of them have had similar experiences with non-believers.

It's a vicious cycle that's virtually impossible to stop because many people feel freed/protected by the anonymity of the internet to insult others.... It's wrong, but they do it anyway.

Anyway, I apologize.

God bless!

I have to say, after spending time reading this section of yahoo answers, my decision to leave organized religion (Christianity) always seems like it was the best idea ever.

everyone thinks they are right, christians are the worst. I have seen many arguments over little things in the bible. One of the many reason I am proudly Atheist.

It's the nature of belief.

If you can't defend it, as most theists can't, then any form of skepticism towards it is usually perceived as an attack.

Their beliefs are weak. They know it. Their only recourse is to attack.

Ofcourse this does not apply to all theists.
