They pray to the Virgin Mary because it was their Doctrine. Doctrine which is not came from Christ. It shows that they are anti-Christ, many members are not aware of it, some knows but they ignore it. Mary is ordinary woman and not God.
We can read on the bible that there are many false prophet, false minister etc... Using the name of Christ.
Exodus 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Someone asked that question recently.
I don't understand this virgin Mary thing but I have seen(with my own eyes) at least two miracles performed on people who prayed to Mary.
I can't criticize the Catholics because I don't know the basis for their belief; maybe a Catholic could help us with this.

We don't ask her to protect us. We ask her to pray for us. It is God Who protects us. Christians have always asked other Christians for prayers of intercession. Mary is a Christian, is she not? So why would she not interceed on our behalf? And before you say "she is dead", please recall that Jesus said those who follow Him "will never die". Therefore we know that the saints in heaven are indeed alive, more alive then they ever were on earth, and if they could pray for others while they were earthly sinners, surely they can also pray for us before the throne of God!
It's amazing how many Protestants recite the Apostles' Creed as a statement of their beliefs, yet have no idea what "the communion of saints" means. This refers to the interaction between "the saints militant" (those of us still on earth) and "the saints victorious" (those of us now living in heaven). If I pray for my friends and family while I am here in the flesh, is it likely I will STOP praying for them once I enter heaven??

Catholics do not pray to Mary, they ask Mary to pray for them. It is called "intercessory prayer", and it's a divine version of having prayer circles. The idea is that Mary and the saints are holy; they have received divine favor with God, and therefore have more influence with Him.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.
The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.
As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends living here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother living in heaven to pray for you.
Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.
With love in Christ.

She was the Mother of God...she gave birth to the Savior of all mankind. That sort of makes her special...don't ya think?
She was conceived without sin and assumed into Heaven. She obviously still lives since we know there is life after death. She can be asked for intercession and her's is most helpful because she is the Mother of Christ.
On the Cross when Jesus said "woman behold you son" then he says to John..."behold your mother." Jesus was giving her to all of us, as our mother. What does your mother do? She protects you and cares for you. You go to her when you need something and no one loves you like your mother does! Mary is our mother too...Jesus gave her to us.

We ask Mary to pray for us much like I would ask anyone else to pray for me. Jesus loves His mother very much and is less likely to deny her what she asks. Remember the wedding feast at Cana? Mary told Jesus to change the water into wine and He was obedient to her. We ask her to pray for us in the hope that He will be obedient to her.
God bless,

hi Nicholas, i understand your question dates a on a similar time as decrease back yet I stumbled upon it and would prefer to supply my 2 cents. at the beginning, opposite to maximum comments made here, you're honestly applicable!!! you would be accused, as you will discover, of being an anti-catholic considering the fact which you could parent the fact from the lies. you will under no circumstances have the skill to reason with somebody who's spiritually blinded via men's traditions. God's chosen human beings are a minority! we are to stick to Jesus' occasion and He prayed God, His Father so consequently, we pray to God. Jesus IS our mediator and He informed us to wish to the daddy..."Our Father who paintings in heaven..." we don't desire any merchandise to wish. there is honestly NO Bible verses to assist the certainty that Mary ascended to heaven. that could be area of their "Sacred custom". Even the pope John Paul II admited this lots. If something, John 3:13 says: "And no guy hath ascended as much as heaven, yet he that got here down from heaven, even the Son of guy it incredibly is in heaven." we are to no longer pray the ineffective the two no count who they're. "For the residing understand that they shall die: however the ineffective understand no longer any difficulty, neither have they from now on a advantages; for the memory of them is forgotten. additionally their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they from now on a element for ever in any difficulty it incredibly is finished decrease than the sunlight." Ecclesiastes 9:5-6. there is so lots extra verses confirming this and that i encourage you to accomplish a splash examine. I pray which you're nonetheless development your courting with God/Jesus and that He keeps to enlighten you, defend you and instruction manual you in all His procedures. BTW, i'm no longer an anti-catholic. What i'm is an anti-unbiblical information, anti-men's traditions, anti-idol worshiping...And particular i understand precisely what catholics have faith, i used to be one and that i left using idol worshiping between different fake doctrines.

They usally mean like watchover them like the angels do. They believe she is in heaven and all in heaven can watch over us, and also they think marys prayers are strong intercession (and other saints in heaven) with God since they are pure and sinless and with God since they're in heaven.
