I can't believe all these people listing "cash" as their favorite wedding gift.
Getting married is supposed to be one of the most unforgettable times in a person's life. That day should be one of the happiest and most memorable.
A few months ago, I heard a woman sniping to her friend, "I don't want to wake up to a gift certificate on Christmas morning!!!" I would expect the same feeling would apply here.
One of the wedding presents my parents got was a handsome looking chafing dish from the ladies who were in a singing group my mother participated in. My mom never removed the tag they all signed, because it reminded her who had given the gift. Now, I have the dish, and I will never remove the tag either.
I think the best wedding gift is something that seems a bit extravagent . It's that beautiful item in the shop window that you would like to have but you don't buy it because it seems like an unnecessary luxury.
"Extravagent" doesn't necessarily have to be expensive. If you were just going to spend $100 on a wedding gift, you could buy a set of four glasses from the German company, Koziol. I recently moved to the Czech Republic, and just today I saw these glasses in a store here. I wanted them badly, but I didn't buy them because I thought that $25 a glass was extravagent.
However, what could be more perfect as a wedding gift? They are obviously well made, and in the middle is a very sophisticated looking rubberized grip that sets them apart from ordinary glasses. A wedding gift should be something people really want, but never end up buying for themselves.
A wedding gift should be something personal, something that shows you put time and effort into selecting it. When the recipient uses the gift, he or she will think of you.
Cash is spent, and immediately forgotten.

Something from wedding list if there was one. If not definitely money to put towards things but apart from VERY close family would never ask, still considered rude and even if some people don't mind no point in offending others........you don't know what individuals can afford and may have been purchasing gift on store card etc.

Some of our best wedding gifts were:
1. The item we use most is an electric frypan - it's fairly large and deep and can we can make anything in it. Great in summer for cooking, when it's hot and don't want to use the oven.
2. A handmade comforter which a family bought for us - she didn't make it, but it was warm and special.
3. A whole bunch of people with whom I worked got together and bought us a barbecue and all the accessories. Expensive in total, but was around $20/person for them to get.
4. My family members all got together and bought us a china set in a Ukrainian pattern, with is really special for us. Service for eight with all serving pieces. They gave the coffee pot, cream and sugar for the shower - so I had thought that was really special. Was really floored to see the wedding gift!
5. Bedsheets.
6. Towels.
7. Crystal serving pieces - fancy salad bowl, divided tray, etc. - would never buy them for myself, but they have been most wonderful to have!
Just some ideas - everything we got was wonderful!

A painting for investment purposes - something around about the £10K mark, preferably figurative and or Victorian, or a nice piece of antique furniture - I rather like burr elm...
If you're buying for someone else with less expensive tastes, I think plants are always quite cool, because no-one ever thinks of buying them for you, and it's something that will last forever, and quite practical - the last wedding we were at the couple had their wedding at the house and we bought orchids, and a small orange tree for beside their indoor swimming pool - it doesn't have to be expensive, just original, and shows you've thouhgt about it - outdoor plants are nice too - if you can choose something that is flowering when you give it, and in anice container that helps too....

Believe it or not but when I got married two of the best gifts I got were a step ladder and a wind up garden hose. These are the type of items you wouldn't think of putting on a list but that you actually will use ,especially the ladder.
hope this helps

a present from their registry or a present card to a save the position they're registered is continually fantastically possibility-free and also straight forward. in the journey that they are not registered everywhere, a present card to objective or a house shop is a fantastic guess besides. solid success!

Most people are registered with a department store. I would like a gift from my listing with the store. But otherwise, would appreciate whatever my friends would choose.
