thanks for good advice so far...
no false plants that this cat touches.. possibly worms as he hunts (semi-wild 'guest' in our house is this cat)....
Am presently keeping him away from other cats to avoid any contamination.
He had a jab from vets and then onto antibiotics which he will refuse to eat whatever method I try! :(

cat appetite used to be physically aggressive - he's a hellishly strong cat so last day or two he wasn;t first there in the queue..... has been drinking normally and also seems ok in himself otherwise.
vet said 1/2 rations for him.....

It could be a "bug", but I wouldn't say "just" and if your cat is vaccinated the bad one should be covered in that. Sounds to me like they don't know what the problem is. First of all, anything that causes a cat to lose it's appetite should be taken very seriously especially if the cat is overweight. Diarrhea that is bloody is not usually caused by intestinal parasites in cats. I would be much more concerned with more serious GI problems in your cat. If the diarrhea came after the antibiotics were started that could be a cause of the diarrhea, however I can't think of any that would cause it to be bloody. If your current vet is not offering you any other options, I would take the cat to another one. In the mean time, be sure to encourage eating and drinking to avoid dehydration.
Good luck

Did your vet do a fecal test? Your cat could have a bad case of worms but you need to do a fecal so it can be treated for that worm. Do not buy treatments from anywhere but your vet, poor effectiveness. Some worms, ie: pinworm, tapeworm, can be transmitted to people or other animals. In fact, my neighbours kid has pinworm right now from their cat! Is the cat drinking? If not it WILL get dehydrated! Antibiotics can also cause the runs. Get a sample into the vet along with your cat, now. The longer you wait the more expensive your bill will be...good luck.

antibiotics should fix this but to have what looks like pure blood instead of spotting is a serious case and it sounds like the vet isn't treating it as such. You may wish to visit another vet or even board him for a day or so at the vet so they can see how serious it is and be sure the medicine is administered properly.
if the antibiotics are in tablet form you can sit him on your lap (not upside down so thinks he will choke causing him to panic)....more a sit up and beg position like a small dog...with his butt on your leg and paws either on your chest or leg or whatever works for you, gently (careful not to hurt his gums with your nails) hold his mouth open with one hand and with the pill stuck to a damp forefinger (it will be damp by the time you got his mouth open) you can 'poke' the pill to the back of his mouth...he will go blaaq!...and usually swallow it right there. If you blow or talk in his face sometimes that will help him open his mouth.
some people like to use a drop of water to make him swallow the pill but I never use this method. ...it just makes my cat mad.
on the bright side...if he is giving you hell...he is doing not so bad.

hopefully the vet knows what s/he's talking about and your cat will get better in a day or so. If there is no change by Monday get back down there because the antibiotics aren't working.

My cat had that too... He was eating fake plants in the house. The vet told me that it would go away once I took the fake plants out of the house. I did that and he got better in a few days. Make sure your cat is not eating something it should not be. :)

Hi, It may be just a "bug" to the vet but to us animal lovers we worry about our pets. It could be colitis which is an infection in the bowel, so the antibiotics should do your cat good. Good Luck to you and your little kitty.

I would just try the antibiotics and see how they go if you don't see any improvement over a certian amount of time you should take him to another vet and tell them what antibiotics your cat was given.

In my opinion the vet knows best. Hopefully the antibiotics should clear it up and your cat will feel better. Good luck to you!

in case you do get 2, ascertain they're a similar age so that they improve up mutually. yet nonetheless, you may't be certain they're going to be most suitable friends. Cats have their own theory about who they prefer and why, and it does no longer continually journey our expectancies. I easily have 2 cats, and that is okay for us. Do evaluate the expenses although, it isn't low-priced to save cats responsibly and proper.

Bloody feces is not good. It could be a sign of internal bleeding, parasites, or GI tract problems. Take it to the vet as soon as possible. Hope he gets better. Good luck!
