Basically, these verses are a Spanish adaptation of the first verse and chorus of the English lyrics to “Via Dolorosa.” So if you want the best “English translation” just reference the original English verse and chorus.
********************************
LITERAL TRANSLATION (from Spanish)
Down the Via Dolorosa, sad day in Jerusalem
The soldiers cleared the way for Jesús
But the people came nearer
To see he who carried that cross

Down the Via Dolorosa, the way of suffering
Like a lamb came Christ, King, the Lord
And it was He who wanted to go because of his love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa to Calvary and to die.

ENGLISH ORIGINAL (Spanish was taken from the original English text)
Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
A Man condemned to die on Calvary

Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.
