In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

No, of course not, but there is a day coming when the mass majority of well-meaning religious folks will be worshipping satan, thinking he is Jesus Christ.
The Bible is very specific all through it that this is what is to happen. People will flock to him in droves to serve and worship the fake.
He's coming on the 6th trump; the true Christ doesn't return until the 7th trump.
Just think of all those rapture believers who are gonna think this first "jesus" who comes along is here to rapture them to safety, when in fact they are being taken by antichrist himself.
And why? Because they listen to stupid books like "left behind", that tells you that you want to be the first one taken. If folks would back up to find the subject and object of whats being discussed when they read of the two grinding at the mill, and the two working in the field, they would see the subject is antichrist coming first.
YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE THE FIRST TAKEN; YOU WANT TO BE THE ONE LEFT WORKING IN THE FIELD.
People will become devil worshippers in droves.
It will be the biggest religious revival of all time.

Yes, every christian who claims one should fear Satan are deifying the evil side of their God and giving him power. To imply that God is offset by another being and at war with him is to admit belief in a polytheistic religion. To weep on Sunday over your sins and claim "the devil made me sin, Lord... Forgive me!" is to grant Satan power greater than that of God himself... to usurp free will. Therefore, the devil became the god of sin and Christians worship him as fervently with their fear as they give god their love.
