Why don't you try starting on the inside to deal with the problem?

There are many vitamins supplements you could try out to try and deal with it. Zinc lozenges, Vitamin B6, Vitamin E, Kelp Tablets, Omega 3 fatty acids and Evening Primrose may be the answer for you. I'm currently taking Vitamin E and Vitamin B complex and my 'symptoms' have got considerably better. Okay, so it hasn't completely disappeared, but its getting better.

You can also buy specially formulated hair, nails and skin tablets. I've seen these in Boots (UK).

Beta-carotene, Vitamin A and Lecithin also add strength to the hair and scalp.

Everyone is different, therefore different things will work for them. Find your 'balance' with the vitamins etc. and hopefully the problem will be solved.

Also, could the cause of your dandruff be down to unhealthy eating habits or excessive washing of your hair? If you wash your hair everyday, try washing it just every two days, this will allow your hair to normally produce its oils and not have them taken away everyday. The recommended daily amount of water to drink for an adult is 8 glasses! So, try and drink at least 5 a day, this will also really help out your skin. Also, try and have at least five fruit/veg portions a day and avoid too much fatty food.

I've tried head and shoulders with no avail - it has minimal results. I have however, heard that a product called T Gel is effective.

To moisturise your hair, try and use a 'hair mask' or deep conditioning treatment about every three weeks. This will leave your hair very soft too! I like Boots' Coconut and Almond Deep Conditioner (it's quite cheap too!)

Good luck! Hope I helped you out

You are certainly not alone - a lot of people are plagued by the annoying white flakes that appear on the tops of their heads. Do not worry because it can be easily treated!

What you want to do is find an over-the-counter shampoo with the ingredient, zinc pyrithione (it's possible that the shampoo you are using may be excessively drying and you need to try a diferent one!). Wash your hair each day and make sure to leave the shampoo on your scalp for at least five minutes. Once you notice the flakes start to disappear, continue washing with the shampoo a few times a week. If the situation does not improve, your best bet is to contact your dermatologist.

Good luck!

Its the time of year. Its dry, cold (depending on where you live) and your skin/hair is exposed to harsh weather. Drink more water. Condition. Washing every day can make it worse. There are prescription shampoos if it gets too bad.
