They're less restrictive than briefs and let your frank and beans breathe a bit more.

Boxers as pets are --in my personal experience-- by far the easiest dogs to get along with. Some dogs, dachshunds for example, have a heavy-handed attitude that makes you feel a little depressed (although I do love my dachshunds!). Boxers are high-energy, high-affection dogs that LOVE to play and just be with their owners. Probably not the best dog for a small apartment and little time to exercise. But in warning, this is a generalization of my experiences with boxers and does not necessarily mean that all boxers are this way.

They are incredible dogs in my experience! We got a 2 yr. old female from a boxer rescue shelter and we adore her. We've had her for 3 years now and she has just as much energy as ever. We love her so much that we just got a 1 year old male from a boxer shelter. He is very hyper!!! They are both wonderful with our 2 young children. Boxers can't be generalized by breed I don't think. My 2 boxers are as different from each other as my 2 children are from each other.

The parent club for the Boxer will have a lot of information about their history, appearance and temperament. I would highly recommend going through this thoroughly and it will also contain possible references for Boxer rescue in case you do decide to get one you can save a life.

They don't live long? WHAT?
Nope, wrong. I have been around Boxers quite abit. Many reach 13-14 yrs.
All dogs are susceptible to old-age cancer.
Boxers are a delight. They are very energetic...very nosy, but have sweet characters. I swear all of them have a good sense of humour. They are not the best guards for your property, but many people are afraid of the way they look.
Read alot about them. Meet as many as you can. I think you'll like them. Just socialize them to people and other animals while it is a pup.

Boxers are very hyperactive and may continue to exhibit puppy behavior well into 3 years (which is just really hyper and often destroying household belongings).
They are also very likely to get cancer, and can put on a lot of weight in their older years. Usually vets will put them on a green bean diet (with dog food also) and it will either prevent them from gaining weight or help them lose it.
They also don't live very long, and can sometimes be aggressive with other dogs, but usually not people. And are generally great with babies and children.

They get up early in the morning and do roadwork.
They train in the gym, 3-4 times a week.
They spar, jump rope and hit the speed bag.
They eat a high protein, low fat diet.
The real good ones earn tons of money.
