More than a month ago I took an un-needed application off my computer and now everytime I boot up I get this:

IPHsend.exe This program has failed to start because xprt5.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

My computer has run no differently...how do I get this to stop showing up and what program could it have been a part of?

I'm thinking maybe it was AOL toolbar....because the only AOL thing I use is AIM and I haven't un-installed AIM at all.

I've identified the file as AOL software. It would have originally been located here:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\IPHSend\IPHSend.exe

You have 2 options:

1) (cleanest option) You can find out what program you removed... install it back on... and then uninstall it properly. You probably deleted the folder instead of using a proper "uninstall" method which is why it's complaining about missing a file.

2) You can manually remove it from loading on startup. If you don't know what program you accidentally deleted... then do this instead. Click on Start -> Run. Type in "msconfig" into the textbox and click OK. Go to the "Startup" tab and look for the Startup Item. There may be something there that blatantly says "IPHSend"... or maybe it will be more subtle and say something with the word "AOL" in it. Uncheck this item... and hit Ok. Windows will stop trying to load the item when your computer boots up.

IPHsend.exe pertains to AOL software.

Depending on how you took it off your computer as you said, you generally always want to navigate to START>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and when your system lists all the programs currently installed on your system, search for the AOL program you don't need anymore, select it and choose the Remove or Change button and follow the prompts.

Alternatively, you can navigate to START>All Programs then find the AOL program and often, there will be an option to uninstall there as well.

Once you've done that, you could run a Disk Cleanup or Registry Cleaner of some kind to clean up additional files that the uninstall leaves behind. This should not only eliminate the problem you're having, but you will also increase your system's performance slightly since your system won't have to search through a jungle of remaining files that after a while, tend to clog your hard drive and make things run slower...and slower...and slower.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Was your mysterious application AOL? I really dont know what do tell you. Do a virus scan first on your PC and Google IPHSEND for additional information. You can manually or with software fix this. However, removing this application may affect your "APPLICATIONS" such as AOL. If you still use it, just reinstall it.

Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as IPHSend.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the IPHSend.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. We recommend Security Task Manager for verifying your computer's security. It is one of the Top Download Picks of 2005 of The Washington Post and PC World.

Hi. From the web. "IPHSend.exe is related to AOL software. This is a non-essential program, but should not be terminated if not suspected to cause problem." If you still use AOL you can get a copy of the missing dll here. http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?xprt5
