My breath stinks unless i have a mint or gum in my mouth. I brush my teeth (and tongue) twice a day and use mouth wash. but still bad breath. I brush past the reccomended two minutes, and use mouth wash for a minute and a half. Any suggestions?

It could be your tonsils. Have them checked.

There are multiple causes for bad breath, many already stated here. A disease in the gums, not flossing (you can't imagine what can be stored in between your teeth) or tonsil thing. It can also be related to stomach problems, such as an ulcer. A bleeding ulcer can cause awful breath. I would say check with your doctor.

You may also check your mouthwash, most of them have a high % of alcohol in it, which can also cause bad breath. Alcohol dries your mouth, and when dry, your breath tends to smell. Mouthwash will make you feel fresher for a while, but in the long term it contributes to a bad breath, which is good for their business, the more your breath smells, the more mouthwash you buy. Try an alcohol free mouthwash, and if you find a brand, let me know which one it is because I haven't found one.

Get a tongue scraper for your tounge and use after throughly brushing and flossing. Follow up with an antiseptic rinse. If the odor persists after that, visit a qualified dentist as you may be having tooth or gum decay issues that are causing the odor. Best of Luck!

Check your toothpaste to make sure that it does not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and make sure your mouthwash does not contain alcohol. Both of these contribute to dry mouth. When your mouth is dry, it becomes an excellent breeding ground for the anaerobic bacteria which cause bad breath. Read "Fourteen Guidelines To Help You Prevent Bad Breath." I've included the link.

Many people are surprised to learn bad breath is one of the constipation symptoms most commonly overlooked. However, it is not difficult to understand really. The mouth and stomach are connected. Constipation and other disturbances in the intestines can cause poor digestion. A digestive tract that is sluggish due to constipation can cause the mouth to have a putrid odor. This is due to gases rising up from the stomach and lingering in the mouth.

Having bad breath that you can't get rid of is a disease that i can't remember the name of. You need to go to the dentist. The dentist should be able to get rid of it for you.
Do you brush your tongue? Because that's where bad breath comes from.

You need to go to your dentist or a doctor. It could be an internal illness that is causing the problem. Also, I remember a friend of mine, when she ate certain foods, like eggs it literally made her breath smell like sh**. She had to drink alka seltzer to get rid of the odor.
