Try one of the stores that have a computer set up for demo clubs. You'll find the driver right for you and they'll not be able to help themselves from making suggestions about your swing.

Do you mean learning without paying someone to teach you? I think that paying for a teacher helps because they know what they are doing and they really can help. But if you don't want to pat I think that they best way to learn is to talk to someone who is really good and ask them if they would take some time to help you. If you know what you are doing wrong like a slice or hook most people know what is going wrong. For example you might be coming over the top. Also you can practice, practice, practice. But with just practice you might be doing to wrong things over and over. Remember practice makes permanent. So don't practice the wrong thing. Hope this helps.

try a golf retial store like golf galaxy or golf discount or go to a local golf course and talk to the pro. either way... just suck it up and buy a lesson.. it is TOTALLY worth it. lessons aren't that expensive either

do yourself a favor, pay for a lesson... you will just create bad habits in your swing that your playing partners will not be able to help you with...good luck and putt well!

I'd suggest the back seat, the driver will never see it coming.
