Twists!!!!!!!!!!!! Easy to do and too cute!
Use some black rubber bands
Part and section into 1" squares
Rubber band off
Twist the rest of the hair
Use Organic Root Stimulator Lock & Twist GEL (3.99 @ sally's or Walmart) to twist and it will hold the ends together
I'll try to find the pix of my son and send it to you or link it up to my 360 page later.
PS don't put the rubber bands in tight -or they will hurt and may rip the hair. Also you'll probably have to do this over the course of two days with some really good movies! haha!

Your best bet for "great pictures" is to take him to a barber shop/salon that specializes in black/hispanic hair. They are familiar with the 'puffy-curly' hair - which is definitely different from "white" or "asian" hair.
From what I understand, it is more fragile and prone to breakage as well, so the pros are the best ones to start with. Once you get a great hair do, it will be easier to keep it up - rather than having to start all over again.
Good luck with the pictures! :D

Best thing to do is find a beauty salon that deals with ethnic hair. Go in and have them do the do on your son and ask lots of questions and recommendations on products.
By asking for your son, you can apply the same ideas to your own hair.
( Tip: Don't buy the products at the salon they are priced high, you can usually find the same or equivalent at a Wal-Mart or large drug store. )

your son is only three years old, and you are trying to change the way he looks? just because he has puffy hair does not mean that you can't take his photo. if your son was born with a horrible disfigurement, would you give him plastic surgery before you let anyone take his picture? by being superficial, you are not setting a good example for your son. if you try and change the way he is, he will grow up to be a boy who does not feel positive about himself. he needs to grow up knowing that beauty is only skin deep and that you love him, puffy hair and all.

I am Black and Mexican, too. My parents kept my brother's hair in a fade. It looked really nice.

well first I have to say make sure you keep a wide tooth comb and prefrably a wave brush but any boar bristle brush will do. you have a few options
cut his hair low in a fade
braid it
lock it
twist it
cut his hair short but it edged up so it looks like an s-curl

I know people who are like that. They put their hair in cane rows (tight braids) and it looks a lot tidier and nice. You can get them done at any salon, and there are some salons that specialize in hair braiding. it looks really nice and there are so many cane row styles to choose from.

The fro look is so cute on baby boys but if mom don't like it I'd cut his hair short.

Either get a haircut or condition his hair with a pro-vitamin children's formula and always use a leave in conditioner after washing and conditioning!
