Talk to your doctor before trying to ween yourself off of anxiety meds. Benzodiazapines like xanax, valium and klonopine, if taken over a long period of time, can have fatal withdrawl symptoms if stopped. I know this isn't an answer to the question but I am very serious, you can die if you stop taking them and a professional should put you on a schedule for weening your body off of them.

Try a product called TrioTox, both my wife and I used it.
At Shoppers Drug Mart (Canadian) I did a detox of the liver colon and kidneys called triotox. its a 100% herbal cleanse and it was really easy -3 pills 3 x a day for 14 days with food and a multi vitamin. I could really feel the benefit right away. You will feel slightly sick for a while but that is because your body is adjusting to the cleanse. Drink about 8-10 glasses of water a day while on it or the cleanse will not work so great. Also I found herbal tyea to be stimuolating. I went to the bathroom a slight bit more than usual but it wasnt so bad. just one or 2 extra trips in the night.

Ease your body off the chemicals. I decided to go off of my asthma meds because of all the horrible side effects I was recieving. I'm not a big believer in modern medicine anymore. I even once had a doctor put me on welbutrin AND adderall together... only to later find out thats very dangeroous. Its no wonder I looked like a heroin addict! I know what you're talking about.
Its all about diet, do not starve yourself at all. I've heard those diets and pills don't work because they cause your body to release more toxins. The best thing you can do is avoid sugars and processed ingredients. Eat mostly vegetables and fruit. Eat beans, grains, and meat on occassion... avoid dairy products (milk takes calcium and other nutrients from your tissues in order to process it). Vitamin C is also great for helping your liver flush out toxins. I drink yogi tea's detox tea as well.

Milk thistle supports the liver.
You can also try this drink:
First thing on rising, drink 8 oz of pure water to flush your digestive tract. An hour later, in a blender, mix up 8 oz of any fresh squeezed citrus juice (fresh squeezed apple juice or grape juice with all the sediment will work too), one lemon, 1 clove (not the whole bulb, just one clove) of garlic (increase by 1 clove each day), 1 tablespoon of olive oil (increase by 1 tablespoon each day), and a piece of ginger (about 1" long) along with 4-8 ounces of pure water.

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.
I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!

Your doctor put you on that medication for a reason. Crapping you colon clean is not going to ease your anxiety. I am an RN and I see way too many suicide attempts by people who decide that their medications are not the answer.
