Why do idiots answer when they don't have anything nice or useful to say? I certainly do believe she can make it over that fence. I have a shepherd who can touch my ten foot ceiling with his paws from a sitting position. My fault for teaching him to touch whatever the laser light touches (target training) and then messing with him. Obviously, my fence isn't stopping him. He CHOOSES to remain in the yard.

You may consider sonic fencing. I have not used it but I have finally met a dog that has it and it works well for him. Actually it is a Boxer. He's a pretty meek, whatever-you-want kind of dog though so you results may vary depending on your own dog's personality and temperment. Supervise for a few weeks to see that it actually works for her if you try this.

There are add-ons you can buy for your fence that curve it inward and keep your pet from leaving. I'm not sure what they are called or how well they'd work for such a powerful dog though. Sorry.

Have you tried giving her something mentally stimulating to do outside? She may just be bored. Some things you could do are: give her a treat ball, give her a pool (small ones at wal-mart are only $6-8), if you feed kibble you can scatter her food over an area and let her 'hunt' dinner, or get her a sandbox and hide treats in the sand (you may have to teach her that this is the ONLY place she may dig).

She may also just have too much energy. Take her for a walk or a light jog. Since she is young, you don't want too much hard exercise or it can hurt her hips. You'll want to wait until at least 12 months, 18 is better, before taking her on long runs or doing any really hard exercise.

You could also take her to the dog park if she is well-mannered and has a good recall. This will give her the chance to get out some energy as well as get some mental stimulation from the other dogs. Go to the park alone first every time while your Boxer waits in the car to see if there are idiots with vicious dogs. Some morons like to take their dog and don't realize that it is aggressive though how they miss that is beyond me. Who would have thought Jaws tearing into Fluffy's neck was aggressive?

You may just have to supervise her whenever she is out. Some dogs just gotta run. I have one like that and she does not go out without me. If your girl is like this as well, you will have to make an extra effort to ensure she gets her exercise. Her breed can easily require an hour a day depending on her personality.

You may also just have to build her a large kennel run WITH A COVER if you absolutely cannot watch her. You're still going to have to make sure she gets her exercise but at least she can be put there to potty, while you clean the floors, etc...

No matter what you choose, it's your job to keep her safe. I don't know what your dog is like but many people treat them like they do American Pit Bull Terriers. I personally have never met a mean Boxer but there are always people that don't care what a dog is like and just look at the breed. It would be a real shame if you lost her to some idiot because s/he couldn't see the dog, only the breed.

BTW I highly recommend that this dog be microchipped if she's not already as well as having her collar with ID tags on it. She may lose the collar and the chip can get her home to you.

I also have a 6 month old Boxer who clears the fence in one jump from a sitting position. he has forfeited his outdoor free time in the yard when I'm at work and is confined to the crate. We do go outside and run when I get home. I'd much rather he be outside in the sun and fresh air but cannot chance his getting loose and getting hurt. At least I know he's safe in the crate. I do not believe in tethering dogs especially when no one is around to supervise nor electrical devices Good luck

Our lab got out of her 10 ft. fence. The only way we fixed it was to put a roof on her area. We did have to build a total kennel for her separate from the yard fence. We tried, putting on a chain (she pulled out the tree it was on and dragged it down to the creek where she got stuck at 2:30 am), using an invisible fence (once she figured out it only hurt for a minute we couldn't use that anymore) and also, a regular kennel with no top (hence the 10ft. fence, which she jumped/climbed over). This is all we could think of - Good Luck!

I agree with answer # 10. Justin. Chain her up inside the fence until shw stops trying to climb over or jump the fence.

I would put an electric fence wire like used for sheep or cattle at the top of the fence. It will not hurt her but it will most likely deter her from attempting a climb. You could also put one halfway up too. She will certainly be far less likely to be injured than by escaping and getting hit by a car. Electric fencing and chargers are cheap, call your Coop or farm store or tractor supply

Has she been FIX yet, that can be the problem right there even if she is not in heat.

OK people sure have stupide answers for somethig easy to say.
.
You can creat an inward curving fence at the top if you dont want to spend that much.

I dont like shock collar systems or fenceing in the same way.

Some companies make special collars that prevent dogs from jumping. Chances are, your local vet will have one of these collars. You can invest in a underground (invisible) fence, or an electical training collar if you have time to watch your pet while he/she is in the yard.

Put her on a chain. Make sure the chain doesnt reach the fence though. Or construct a huge plexiglass wall aroung it the extend to 10 feet. After a little while she'll get the idea.

Pets Mart sells a harness that won't allow dogs to jump. Take her into Pets mart and have an associate help you size and properly put the harness on and show you how it works if you don't like it your not required to buy it.
