Peace be with you. I am a muslim and I love it because islam is an intelligent, enlightening, fair, and logical choice for me. The religion is a way of life, it gives me answers as well as a code of ethics I can aspire to. I am also aware that God does punish but am awed over and over again how much God loves us, and how forgiving he is, how merciful he is, and the exponential rewards for doing the right thing.
I believe in one God, who created us all and our purpose in life is to worship him. We do this by praying, but also in everything we do, starting each task with the name of God, dealing fairly in business and treating other human beings with kindness because these acts are considered worship, even a smile can be charity. We defend ourselves against persecution, we strive to get educated, we act socially responsible, and much more. www.islamicity.com is a great site to I enjoy.
Personally, I think the best choice is to go to the source, get a good translation of the Quran and start reading. I know I don't always practise the way I should and a lot of people don't but make your decisions based on the sources, rather than the way you see some people acting. All the very best to you and great question!

I am Muslim!
Muslims believe that God revealed His final message to humanity through the Islamic prophet Muhammad (c. 570 - July 6, 632) via the angel Gabriel. Muhammad is considered to have been God's final prophet, the "Seal of the Prophets". The Qur'an is believed by Muslims to be the revelations Muhammad received in years of his preaching. Muslims hold that the message of Islam - submission to the will of the one God - is the same as the message preached by all the messengers sent by God to humanity since Adam. Muslims believe that "Islam is the eternal religion, described in the Qur'an as 'the primordial nature upon which God created mankind.' Further the Qur'an states that the proper name Muslim was given by Abraham. As a historical phenomenon, however, Islam was originated in Arabia in early 7th century. Islamic texts depict Judaism and Christianity as prophetic successor traditions to the teachings of Abraham. The Qur'an calls Jews and Christians "People of the Book," and distinguishes them from polytheists. However, Muslims believe that the previously revealed scriptures, the Tawrat (Torah), and the Injil (Gospels), had become distorted as indicated in the Qur'an, either in interpretation, textually, or both.
Islamic belief is composed of six main aspects: belief in God; His revelations; His angels; His messengers; the "Day of Judgement"; and the divine decree.

First of all i'm glad you're interested in Islam and not biased against it or anything! And yes i am a Muslim by the way.
This may not be the most of great of help to you but the key thing for a muslim to believe in is in Allah (God) and his messenger Prophet Muhammad (PBUH.)
In the Quran it says " La illah ha illallah Muhammad ur rasoolullah" meaning: "There is no deity but God, and Muhammad is his messenger."
This is know as the declaration of faith, without believing this it is impossible to submit yourself to God. (Islam meaning "submission" which u probably may know.)
There are many things we believe in such as life after death, heaven, hell, and what everyone else has said too etc but to be honest i can go into great detail into it and it will take me forever. All these things are written in the holy book the Qur'an.
Doing good, repecting everyone, obeying Allah, his rules his teachings is "the gateway to heaven" doing bad won't get you anywhere but in worse positions.
This should give further help (brief):

Anyway i hope that helped you!

Honey, if you really want to learn about islam never ask a Muslim. They are allowed to lie to infidels. They are not allowed to say anything bad about islam. Most Muslims are handed a watered down version of islam, they are not even sure what their own religion really is. Muslims are not allowed to learn about other religions. They are told once you find the truth there is no need to search. This has been told to me by an ex-Muslim. You should just study history. Learn about Muhammad and what he did to anyone that did not do what he said, or what he claims "allah" said. Check out how many wives and slaves he had. Did you know that allah said you can't have sex with a married woman, unless she is your slave. Then you can rape her. It's ok, allah said. See how many thousands of people were killed on his command, hundreds of Jews led to their be-headings. Muhammad really seemed to enjoy be-headings. islam still follows that practice as we've seen in the news.
May God Bless you.

The Muslim will tell you to embrace Islam and learn its religion. However, once you are in you cannot come out easily. Or you would not, because you will be discouraged to learn the truth about other religions.
