Um. No. God is not a narcissist. God is God. You can't possibly attempt to apply human rules and diagnoses to a supreme being.

I'll concede this: if God were human, and not God, then he would be a narcissist. However, God is not human. Calling God a narcissist is like calling him tall, or hairy. We can't do this because he doesn't have these qualities. He doesn't have these qualities because they are human qualities.

What you're doing is anthropomorphism - applying human characteristics to something that is not human. You can't diagnose God with human rules, you have to use God rules. Attempting to assess God with human rules assumes a measure of humanity that God does not posess.

The DSM-IV rules apply to people, and they are based on a contrast against what is "normal" for people. In order to diagnose God, you have to use a God DSM. You have to establish what is "normal" for God. Then you have to create diagnoses for "abnormal" Gods. After you do this, you can use your God DSM to figure out God's problems relative to "normal" for God. I'm willing to bet that the standard for narcissism for God is MUCH higher than it is for humans!

Yes he is a narcissist and I would also add sociopath because he ordered the Jews to murder so many people. He also had the angel of death kill all the first born sons in Egypt. You have to be really messed up in the head to do something like that.

I would say No, but according to the stories in the Bible, there is a strong case for Bipolar (manic-depressive) disorder.

Bipolar: characterized by opposite extremes.

As a psychotherapist, I can tell you that the prognosis for such a personality disorder is not very good.
