The other day, I noticed that my heel was hurting anytime that I put pressure on it which is a lot because my high school classes are far away from each other. Then I had a group physical therapy ACL thing and it was still bothering me even thought I took an Alieve....then after my dad was looking at my foot and checking it out and he felt a bump and said that it might be a ganglion...would that be plausible though? I thought that those only formed in hand and near joints and the pain on my heel isn't near my ankle. Is there anything else that it would be?

Its a heel spur. I have one too. Get an appointment to go see a pediatrist. He/she, will probably fit you for orothotics and tape up your foot, neither of these hurt. If its a really intense heel spur then they may inject steriods to get the swelling down. Surgery is a last option, but its only reserved for those who cant walk because of the spur.

Yes, I have had cysts like that removed from my foot 4 times. since it is hurting you you really should have your dad take you to a podiatrist (foot specialist) and he/she will do x rays and check you out throughly. You may need to have it surgically removed. This is considered to be an out patient surgery and you go in the hospital in hte morning and are out within a few hours. they will either do a spinal block where you will not feel anything or a general where you are knocked out.
Unfortunately you would not be able to put pressure on your foot what so ever but in the long run you will feel better.
you might want to also ask about having special inserts made for you., the foot specialist does this as well. and invest in a good pair of tennis shoes such as new balance.
I hope this helps. I would have this done as soon as possible if I were you, do not wait until it is too late...

Could be a heel spur, I have a ganglion cyst on my right wrist and you're right they do form at joints and on tendons. My money is on a heel spur. Take some anti-inflammatories, elevate your foot and wear well cushioned shoes until you get to your orthopedist. I also had ACL surgery, and had a heel spur, too! So far we're running neck in neck with the ailments! I know it hurts like mad, so take your Alleve and get better soon.

You could a a heel spur, which is a small piece of bone growing from the bottom of your heel and very painful. the ganglion cysts are pretty common and can grow just about any where. If it bothers you much longer go see the doc.
