If you file for child support, does your child's last name change to the father's last name?

No - their legal name is on their birth certificate. The last name difference doesn't make them any less his child.

No, however I do know someone that wasn't receiving child support and filed for food stamps and the child support agency (ohio) stepped in and made her list who the father was, they gave a dna test and his last name was changed to the fathers, so It may change in public assistance cases but I'm not positive of all the ins and outs. She gets child support now and is still eligble for food stamps, just less than what she would have been getting if the state never went after child support.

Nope. Even if there is a paternity test and he is proven to be the father, the child still doesn't have to have the father's last name.
