Curl up your index finger on one hand and rest the front of the stick on it, and on the back of the stick (the heavier end) should be balanced between your index finger and the very tip of your thumb very loosely.

Use the weight of the stick as you would when you ring a bell, the stick must be allowed to flow freely through your other hand with as little resistance as possible.
