I had my uterus and cervix removed a year ago and a week ago had exploratory surgery and due to scar tissue they had to remove one of my ovaries. I have been real emotional since the surgery and was not sure if it is because my body has been through so much or if having one ovary can mess up your hormones??? Does the one ovary I have left produce twice the hormones to make up for the one that is gone or do your hormones change???

It sounds as if your hormone levels are out of balance now. Sometimes women that only have one ovary need to take hormone pills to stablize their levels and keep them balanced. Please talk to your doctor and keep an emotion diary. Sometimes doctors request this information just to be on the safe side. Good luck and all will be fine after you talk to your doctor about this in detail.

I suspect a temporary hormonal imbalance. The remaining ovary will produce all the hormone you need. You just need to give it a little time to adjust its output level. By all means, talk with your doctor but I believe she'll tell you all will be well in a month or so.

I have had a partial hysterectomy and have been put on what we call happy pills. Because of depression after the surgery. So you should see your doctor and see if they can get you stable again. It is a big change to your body and it is a chemical in-balance.

No, your one ovary produces the amount of one. Thats why women with hysterectomy's have decreased estrogen.

I don't have a clue how to answer your question, BUT I know it is NOT a stupid one! You never know how things will affect other things - I think it's a GREAT question! Good Luck!

Call your Dr. This does sound hormonal. Maybe they can reassure you.
